This years Outward Bound trip takes place from Monday 26th - Friday 30th August 2024 at the Loch Eil Centre, near Fort William. Planning arrangements are ongoing and we are looking forward to the visit.
Below are links to some important requirements and pieces of information which we hope you will find useful
What does the Outward Bound Trip
students take part in a wide range of outdoor experiences which include team
building and problem solving games and a wide range of activities including sailing,
kayaking, raft building, gorge walking, rock climbing, high rope courses, etc.
For many the programme will also involve an overnight camping expedition as
well participating in the John Muir Discovery Award which involves thinking
about the environment and the actions, we can take to conserve it.
Why should my child consider taking
part in Outward Bound?
Bound have a long track record of providing first class outdoor experiences
designed around the personal development of students and their development of important
life skills, resilience, and confidence. Participation in an Outward Bound
course provides opportunities for students to develop key ‘soft skills’ so
important in terms of personal development, achievement at school and in the
world of employment. The course also offer students the opportunity to achieve
the John Muir Discovery award.
Due to continuing support from our Outward Bound sponsor, we are able to offer places on the trip for a capped price of £100 (a substantial saving on the normal cost of Outward Bound courses).
There are currently places for all current S1 students.
To secure a place for your child we ask that you please return this slip plus a £20 deposit no later than Friday 15th December 2023. Preferably payments should be made using the electronic – Parent Pay system. Alternatively, payments can be accepted if made in person at the school office.
Please note that additional assistance towards meeting this cost may also be available through application to the school opportunities fund. If you think this is something that would be of help, please contact Mr Wyllie or your child’s Pupil Support Leader – Miss Murray, Ms McKay or Ms Wilson.
