Enabling teachers to plan pupil learning through a set of standardised tests

Each year, S3 pupils in every school in Scotland are required to sit a set of standardised assessments. These tests are one of a range of tools that teachers have to plan your child’s learning.

Pupils will sit three assessments – Reading, Writing and Numeracy.

We are currently seeking advice on whether or not assessments will be proceeding in 2021/2022.

Pupils will sit assessments in class time.

Some pupils will sit assessments with support, if required.

We would be very grateful if you could discuss these tests with your child and explain how important it is that your child attends the assessments and tries their best.
