At Gracemount High School we aim to make the transition into our school as smooth as possible for all young people who will be joining us. We work closely with our primary colleagues in our cluster primary schools, which are Gracemount Primary School and Frogston Primary School, to welcome new S1 students each year.

P7 Transition Timeline
October 2026:
P5-P7 Open Evening – Wed 7th October 5-7:30pm
October 2026 – April 2027:
PE lesson with high school PE department.
December 2026:
A group of S1 students visit P7 classes in the primary school to talk about high school and answer questions.
January-April 2027:
Transition teacher delivers literacy skills to P7 classes in primary school.
February-March 2027:
Weekly visits to the high school to meet Guidance and Senior Management staff and tour the school.
April-June 2027:
Enhanced transition. Selected P7 students attend nurture lessons and some classroom experiences at the high school.
Parent/carer coffee mornings at the high school.
May 2026:
Taster lessons for all P7 classes. Primary 7s attend the high school to experience two classroom lessons.
June 2027:
3 day visit parents information evening: date and time to be confirmed.
3 day visit. All primary 7s attend 3 full days at the high school (Tue 15th-Thu 17th June 2027 from 8.30am-3.20pm. Please wear primary school uniform)
